The new BRE Innovation Park at Kortright Centre for Conservation will be Canada’s first: a collection of model homes designed for the demonstration and testing of innovative new sustainable building technologies and practices.

Though no one will actually live in this new subdivision, thousands will visit each year: builders and suppliers, researchers, experts from industry and government, and everyday homeowners interested in greener living.

This article from the online magazine Yonge Street provides a great introduction to the project and its potential to help create more sustainable communities.

Glenn MacMillan, Senior Manager, Water & Energy, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA): “Each of those new buildings will be built to different performance targets for water efficiency, energy efficiency, accessibility … It’s basically a sandbox to test and evaluate green building technologies.”
