The Bayview Glen neighbourhood is located within the community of Thornhill in the City of Markham, York Region. It’s a beautiful, mature neighbourhood of mostly detached homes , parks and parkettes, Bayview Glen Public School, places of worship and some commercial lands. A reach of the Upper East Don River flows through the neighbourhood, lined with a mix of natural areas and private residential lots.

The Bayview Glen Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Program (SNAP) has implemented a number of projects in parks, homes and streets to:

  • Improve stormwater quality and reduce erosion impacts
  • Keep the urban forest healthy, and improve the biodiversity of plants and animals native to this area
  • Conserve energy and encourage sustainable transportation modes to reduce carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions
  • Conserve drinking water to reduce pressure on the current water system and preserve this vital resource for the years to come
