Existing Building Commissioning of Kortright Visitor Centre
The Kortright Visitor Centre, located in Vaughan, ON, underwent an Existing Building Commissioning (EBCx) process in 2022. EBCx includes testing, monitoring, and reporting on the function and efficiency of a building’s lighting and mechanical systems. This process can identify no- or low-cost interventions and overall improve the functionality of a building. EBCx can reduce air quality-related health problems, occupant complaints, contractor call-backs, warranty issues, energy consumption, and operational costs. This study used the Kortright Visitor Centre as an example building to demonstrate the benefits of EBCx.
