Course Description
Developed by Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), and Credit Valley Conservation, the Low Impact Development (LID) Treatment Train Tool (TTT) is an exciting new open-source tool created to help developers, consultants, municipalities and landowners better understand, plan and implement sustainable stormwater practices. The tool can be used right from the conceptual-level planning stage of site development and retrofits for iterative design of LID placement and sizing. It utilizes the Environmental Protection Agency’s SWMM5 modelling engine for its core hydrology computations underneath its clean user-friendly interface targeted at non-modellers. The tool can run both event based and annual simulations and its output results pertain specifically to design criteria: the water balance, volume control, peak flow, and load reductions for both total phosphorus and total suspended solids. Users can model the pre- or post-development scenarios independently or side-by-side for comparative pre to post analysis. These scenarios drafted at the conceptual-level planning stage can be exported to SWMM5 for further development during detailed design. Version 1.0 is available here.

3. Walk through two case studies of projects that have been completed in the LID TTT.
