Riverwood (previously known as Mississauga Garden Park), is a 60 ha (150 ac.) site located primarily on the east bank of the Credit River, north of Burnhamthorpe Road West and south of Highway 403. Included in the design development process for Basic Park Development in 2003 and 2004, was a study report called the “Mississauga Garden Park , Environmental Management Plan for Basic Park Development and Future Phases”. This study report included a section on Drainage and a Storm Water Management Plan and recommended that a variety of measures and, in combination, would provide a high level of water quality and erosion protection. These measures, including two micro extended detention basins (or also known as bioswales) were constructed during the basic park development construction in 2004 and 2005.
