The IMAX Headquarters located in Mississauga is a demonstration site to showcase Low Impact Development (LID) practices on an industrial/commercial property.  The parking lot is one of the first in Ontario to be retrofitted to incorporate a variety of LID practices.  Innovative technologies on site include permeable pavement, bioretentions, grass swales and an industrial water filter that removes pollutants and releases rain water slowly into the municipal storm system.

The specific objectives of this project were to:

• Design and construct a better functioning and expanded parking lot using LID features with lower operational costs
• Benefit from project partnerships to enable a variety of innovative stormwater management technologies to be integrated on site
• Conduct infrastructure performance assessment to address knowledge gaps impeding the wide-scale adoption of LID practices in Ontario
