Course Description
Join Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and Jennifer Thompson, of Azimuth Environmental for a step-by-step overview of the Soil Risk Assessment (SRA) Tool. The SRA tool has been created to predict average annual soil loss from areas which have implemented a variety of ESC BMP measures. The SRA tool can be used by designers to both determine areas of high erosion risk on a construction site and to assess the efficiency of their proposed ESC plan at minimizing soil loss from a site. The output from the tool, or the tool itself could also be used by regulatory agencies as part of the review process for ESC plans.

1. Understand the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE), the five input factors and how they were determined
2. Learn how to utilize the Soil Risk Assessment (SRA) Tool and apply to construction site planning
3. Apply the SRA Tool and determine if soil loss from active construction is “tolerable” based on background values
