This virtual course will be divided into to two – 1/2 day sessionsMay 15 and May 22, 2020.

Online of Course Requirements:

The course will be offered LIVE – ONLINE (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. ) on May 15 and May 22, 2020 and requires NO in-class requirement.  Each registered participant will receive an email notification on May 12, 2020 granting access to the Visual OTTHYMO (VO) software and a FREE 30-day trial license along with instructions on how to join the course each day.  The VO software must be downloaded prior to the start of the first online session.

Course Description:

Visual OTTHYMO (VO) is the hydrologic modelling software for watershed analysis, site plan and stormwater management pond design. This course takes you through introductory VO concepts, workflow, GIS, Resource Library to more advanced topics on parameterization, outputs, pond sizing, LID and water quality. Hand-on exercises on various topics will be provided. Participants will be able to apply VO model in their daily work after this course.

  • Introduction and History of VO
  • Model structure and workflow
  • Resource Library
  • Continuous modelling
  • Practice: Creating simple model for single-event and continuous simulation
  • Discussion

 – Session 2 Outline (continuing from session 1) – May 22

  • Parameters and outputs
  • Pond sizing
  • Practice: LID and water quality
  • Discussion

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion of the course participants will be able to:
  • Understand the concepts and workflow used in VO
  • Be familiar with the latest model features
  • Understand model parameterization, outputs, and GIS features
  • Have hands-on experience in:
    • Single-event and continuous modelling simulations
    • Water balance analysis
    • Pond sizing
    • LID toolkit and water quality analysis
