Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control Training Modules and Certification Exam

CISEC, Inc. administers an international certification program that recognizes the abilities, skills, experience, and knowledge of inspectors who have demonstrated their proficiency in observing, inspecting, and reporting on the implementation of erosion and sediment control measures.

Mission Statement:

To provide an inspector certification program for individuals that:

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in the principles and practices of controlling sediment and erosion and other stormwater pollutants
  • Demonstrate the necessary skills to observe onsite and offsite conditions that impact the quality of stormwater discharges from active construction sites
  • Demonstrate the ability to inspect installed best management practices and their ongoing maintenance to determine if the mitigation measures will minimize the discharge of sediment and other pollutants from active construction sites
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate and report on their inspection of active construction sites as to whether stormwater management compliance issues may exist

Certification Examination:

Non-Refundable Exam Fees (not including tax):

  • LEVEL 1 (CAN-CISEC IT)  – intended for those individuals having less than two years of inspection experience – $100.00
  • LEVEL 2 – taken by CAN-CISEC IT after acquiring two years of inspection experience – $150.00
  • LEVEL 3 (CAN-CISEC) – intended for those individuals having more than two years of inspection experience – $250.00 

Note: Applicants must apply and be approved to write the Level 2 or 3 exam. Approval is based on a combination of work experience and educational background.

1.5-day Training Course:

Day 1:  8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Day 2: 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.  Exams administered at conclusion of Day 2.

Attendance in the training course is not required before taking the comprehensive certification examination.  The course fee is $500.00 + tax which includes a copy of the training manual and lunch on both days.

CAN-CISEC contracts are renewed on an annual basis every September.  Participants must demonstrate they have completed 12 continuing development hours and must submit annual renewal fees as follows:
